Join Me For a Question and Answer Session About Medium
It's on Thursday, January 9th at Noon CST
Hello Friends!
If you’re just waking up on your Thursday morning, I wanted to tell you that at noon Central Standard Time, I’ll be available on Zoom to answer your questions about Medium. This will be similar to the video chats I’ve been offering for paid subscribers, but this one is available for EVERYBODY (I’ll include the link below).
I’m feeling more confident about the video/technological side of these things. I’ve been doing the Q&A sessions for a couple months, and I haven’t had any major problems yet. But this is something new and on a much larger scale, so we’ll see how it goes.
A few people have already indicated they’d like to watch a video replay, so I’ll try to record.
If you want some more information on what the talk will be about, check out this wonderful post from
:I have to say that I owe a lot to Kristina. I’d been dabbling on Substack for about a year when I decided to subscribe to Kristina’s newsletter. Marketing and writing are linked, and though I have a strong background in marketing, I consider myself a writer first and foremost.
Immediately after subscribing to Kristina’s newsletter, I began to see a steady rise in subscribers that has continued until today. Over the last year, I went from 77 free subscribers on January 1st, 2024, to 5,000 free subscribers on January 1st, 2025.
Kristina’s marketing advice pairs perfectly with my writing advice, and I’m looking forward to working with her more!
My newsletter is so intertwined with Kristina’s that Substack included her name when they sent me by Bestseller badge.
But today, I’m going to be talking about Medium. I know that a lot of people have been frustrated with the Boost program, but I still feel it’s the best way to get an immediate return on a quality article.
I’ve written 159 Boosted Stories, and I’ve nominated two or three times that many. I’ve got a good sense of what Medium is looking for. In order to be Boosted, a story must:
Be unique
And offer expert advice
For example, the last story I wrote that was Boosted was about preparing my wife for her US Citizenship test.
You can see how that one performed here:
I also recently worked with
on this story, and this is how it has performed:Join me at the Q&A
Again, this Q&A will be open to all subscribers. We’ll see how it goes, and if it’s something you enjoy, I’d be happy to offer more opportunities like this in the future.
I usually find that there aren’t enough good stories to nominate, so if I can help give some of you the advice you need to take your writing to the next level, I’m happy to do so!
You can offer your questions down in the comments, or have them ready in the chat for the meeting. Here’s the link:

See you there!

Here’s my referral link to my preferred headline analyzer tool. If you sign up through this, it’s another way to support this newsletter (thank you).
Oh man Walter... Hope now the time is right. Should be in 1,5 hours, am I right?
I updated it and will send a short reminder too.... Need to get better with those time zones. Noon seems to be my 7pm. Wish you a great session. Funny story with the bestseller will use it for sure.
Have fun and thanks soooooo much for being part of the Club. Happy to see you thrive, Walter. You'll soon have more paid subs and subs as me. Trust me! You're awesome
Nice! I will be in an appointment, but would love to listen to the recording!
