The Lesser of Two Evils Is For Schumer to Resign as Minority Leader
Sometimes you're stuck between two bad options
Hello Friends,
Well, we're right in the middle of the spin cycle again. 10 Democrats just defied the will of the people and approved of a funding bill that 36 Democrats, 1 Independent, and even 1 Republican voted against.
That's bad enough by itself.
But even worse is the fact that I'm constantly being lectured by those “tut-tut” people who insist that the 10 Democrats who voted yes were “smarter” and “more responsible” than the 36 (plus BERNIE) who voted HELL NO!
I've been at this long enough that I've blocked a lot of people for their persnickety and self-righteous attitude.
First of all, all the arguments for voting “yes” are total bullshit. The presidential administration is going to continue firing people no matter what happens. We can't act like anything is normal because it's not. I, for one, am sick and tired of watching the Constitution get violated day after day after day.
Every single time you turn on the television, another crime is being committed.
You can't go skipping along and pretending everything is fine right now. It's delusional.
But the vote has happened. It's over. It's done. All that's left are the consequences. We've already had Schumer look down his nose through his glasses at us and sternly lecture us about “the lesser of two evils.”
Okay, fine. Is that what he believes?
What experience has taught me is that when people start in with this “lesser of two evils” bullshit, it's because they want you to make some kind of sacrifice. It's never them. It's always you.
“Yeah, this sucks for you, but the other thing would suck worse for you.”
“Okay, well, how about we do something that makes you sweat a little bit instead of me.”
“Oh... ha ha ha, that's not how it works. You see, I'm a Senator.”
But, here's the thing, the “Yes” vote has really pissed off the Democrats. In fact, it hasn't just pissed off the Democrats, it's pissed off all the voters. It's pissed off the constituents. It's pissed off everybody but the current presidential administration.
When you do anything that pleases the current presidential administration, you're not on the right side of history.
We're in another one of those situations where all the choices are bad. Schumer made himself the spokesperson of this “lesser of two evils” bullshit, so it's up to him to do something about it. Once again, he's at the fulcrum between two bad choices.
He could remain the minority leader and tell the voters to “shut up and get in line”
He could step down and demonstrate that Democrats are willing to listen to the voters
Well, la-di-da! It's another “two bad choices” scenario. What was it that Schumer just said about “the lesser of two evils?”
The thing is, somebody should encourage Schumer to view this situation as a positive! He has the opportunity to PROOVE that he wasn't just trying to blow smoke up our asses! If he actually believes in “integrity” and “doing the right thing even when there are consequences” he can take complete ownership of this unpopular vote, step down, and help to unify the party.
The guy could be a damn hero!
Then, going forward, we'd all know that when people say “gotta choose the lesser of two evils” they weren't just trying to placate us with some good sounding bullshit before proceeding to do exactly what they wanted. They could PROOVE that they actually meant it by taking the consequences THEMSELVES for a change!
So, which is it going to be Schumer? Are you going to take the lesser of two evils and step down? I mean, the vote is already done. If time proves that the “yes” vote was right, then you can get your accolades then. Stepping down isn't an admission of wrongdoing. It's just seizing the moment to take the best action to unify the party and appease voter anxiety TODAY.
The American people want some sign, ANY SIGN, that people in politics are ACTUALLY LISTENING!
Are you LISTENING Schumer?
Resigning is DOING SOMETHING! We’re begging for you to DO SOMETHING! The people want to see ACTION!
Or are you going to insist on the greater of two evils where you get to retain your position of power, demand that the people listen to you (instead of the other way around) even though doing so keeps the party divided and ineffective?
Hmmm... seems like a pretty easy choice.
Our country is in desperate need of a show of INTEGRITY! Even if you stand by your vote, you also need to demonstrate that you truly believe it's important to choose the LESSER OF TWO EVILS!
Well... let's see it. Step down.
Sadly, I also suspect I know what the answer is going to be. I hate being right all the time.

Walter this was a great piece and I am dismayed by Schumer’s action. The lesser of 2 evils is not an option when democracy is on the line. And yes I believe that Schumer should resign also.
Exactly. I’ll add… not one Democrat should have gone to 47’s inauguration. Not one Dem should have voted for Little Marco, and not one Dem should have voted to censure Al Green. Period. We’re on our own here. Get it together Team Blue!!
