We Have to Dismantle All the Institutions that Propped Up Loser Don and Got Us Into This Mess
The 2024 election is not the end of our activism, it's only the beginning
Hello friends!
I'm ready for the election to be over and I'm ready for trump to be defeated. I'm ready to never have to mention that guy’s name again. I find him to be loathsome. He's an adjudicated rapist. He called to suspend the Constitution. He's a convicted felon. Those are just the things that we know.
I don't like how he constantly insults everyone. I don't like the way he talks. I turn off Saturday Night Live even when they're mocking him because I never want to see him again. It's not funny. The minute the drunken droll of his voice begins to sound, I get up and run away. It's instinct. I don't even know I'm doing it.
But I think the worst thing about these last 10 years, when trump has been allowed to perform as a one-man wrecking ball to destroy whatever is left of the fabric of decency in our country, is just the fact that so much effort is being made to prop up something so loathsome.
Let's face it, the guy can't stand on his own. He isn't qualified to work the fry machine at McDonald's. Everything he touches turns to shit, including the USA. He's got not one achievement to his name. Why, oh why, does he continue to be on the public radar?
Again and again they keep trotting him out. They give him a platform. Every single time he opens his mouth, he fails. He says something insulting. He says something reprehensible. Yet STILL he's allowed to continue year after year.
The only thing you can conclude from this is that our whole society is FUCKED UP! That a man as completely without ability or talent as Donald Trump can remain in the mainstream for so long is an irrefutable proof that something is wrong.
For too long, we've been leading our lives of quiet desperation, hoping against hope that things will get better. We keep believing all the bullshit about how our nation is “good” and “just” and “true” and “fair.”
Well, that illusion has been ripped away, torn to shreds, stomped on, burned and buried. Trump disproves everything. The mere existence of that con artist charlatan on the ballot shows that this nation is unacceptably vulnerable.
To date, the only thing that's saved us is that the guy is LAZY and the guy is COGNITIVELY IMPAIRED. What we need to wake up and recognize is that if a smart and evil person decides to destroy our country, Trump in all his bumbling and incompetence has demonstrated exactly how it can be done.
We need to start talking about all the flaws that have been an open secret since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. All the cute and flowery bullshit that we like to repeat, and which makes us feel good about our place in the world, has to be thrown out the window.
Our nation is flawed.
Our nation is vulnerable.
Our nation allows rapist, traitor, convict, predator, con artist, mad men to have a clear path to power. There's no more saying, “Well, that can never happen.”
That did happen. It can never happen again.
Here's what we have to fix.
1. The Electoral College
Otherwise known as a massive system of voter suppression. There is not one argument that justifies the existence of this outdated relic. Imagine if we had a system that gave inordinate voting power to decent human beings.
Yeah, that would be nice.
Instead, we have a system that gives inordinate voting power to the most ignorant, corrupt, racist, and vile percentage of our population. The whole reason this exists is because the south wanted the voting power of the human beings they held as slaves, but they didn't want to actually allow them to vote.
The electoral college was born of corruption and it keeps corruption alive in the US. Our vote is supposed to mean something. We can't tolerate systems that dilute the voting power of responsible, kind, and educated people.
2. Two-tiered corrupt criminal justice system
In the United States, innocent black men are given the death penalty, guilty white men are allowed to run for president.
That's the system we have. It's not much of a surprise that the police are corrupt since the whole institution arose out of slave patrols. Our criminal justice system isn't designed to protect hardworking people from criminals. If that were the case, they'd be arresting politicians and billionaires.
Our criminal justice system is designed to protect billionaires and politicians from hardworking people. The hardworking people have to fund this bullshit. We essentially live in a police state. Everybody knows that the US Military is the largest in the world, but did you know that the US Police force would be the third largest military in the world?
The US Police force is bigger than the Russian army. We live in an occupied police state. Imagine if we spent that money on education and infrastructure and anything other than beating people over the head with a stick.
Total bullshit.
3. Christianity
I have two daughters and the idea that an institution can exist in the US that tells little girls they can't assume leadership roles really pisses me off. People always start in with, “Well, all religions...” But I have to stop them right there. I don't have experience with other religions. All I have is experience with Christianity, and that experience is bad.
They protect predator priests.
They discriminate against women.
They spread anti-LGBTQ+ hate.
They steal money from public schools and give them to Christian private schools (which are essentially segregated).
Think of it this way, they claim it's their mission to help the poor. But they've been at it for 2000 years. The poor are still here and the church is rich.
The problem is that when we look at our society and try to find the root cause of problems, we put on our blinders when it comes to the religious community. “Oh, the problem isn't them.” But then we don't even investigate. All I'm saying is that we have to stop with this assumption that Christianity is doing good in the world, and entertain the idea that they're deliberately creating a poverty class they can exploit.
If I'm wrong, then prove it.
4. The military
Again, Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us in his Chance for Peace address. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, “Watch out for those military fuckers because they'll make the price of war a constant financial burden on the hardworking people of the nation if we aren't careful.”
Well, we weren't careful.
We've got to stop with all this reverence for the military bullshit. We're spending way too much money on it, and it's another one of those things you're not allowed to criticize. Like seriously, stop spending a trillion dollars a year on murdering people. Stop it. Let's spend that money on research into free energy, or on learning how to make people perpetually 25, or on stopping hair loss.
Literally anything would be better. Rethink your reverence for the military, that's brainwashing designed to make you love your oppressors.
5. Media conglomerates
We no longer have free news, we have a propaganda empire. This is one of the reasons a loud-mouth, loser, con artist, rapist is allowed to babble and babble and babble and nobody pushes back. All the people who report on the babbling are being paid by the same guy (probably a Russian oligarch), and they just write what he tells them to write.
Break them up. Give regular people a platform. Let people with reasonable opinions have their say.
6. The unfair tax code
Our whole system is designed to protect billionaires and ensure that working class people can never get ahead. The result has been a 30+ trillion dollar debt. Again, the reality is that no wealthy people are doing any work or making any contribution to the human race. They're just kicking back on their pedophile islands and cashing in their government bail out checks. The only ones working are you and me, and we're working double to support all the rich, asshole, criminals.
7. Republican party
The whole Republican party is corrupt. They're the party of rape apologists. They're a disgrace.
8. Moderate democrats
Moderate Democrats are just another name for Republicans.
9. Institutionalized racism
What America can't seem to figure out is that racism doesn't work. It takes way too much effort. Nothing good comes from it. Hate doesn't work. Denying that our country is racist is just plain ignorant. If Christians can run around saying “everyone is a sinner” then I can run around saying “everyone is a racist.” The message is to DO BETTER. Our kids deserve it.
10. Attacks on education
An uneducated society is going to fail. We have to make an investment in our future. If scientific inquiry proves that all your traditional beliefs are complete BULLSHIT, it's not our job to suppress progress. It's our job to adopt a better way of life.
Attacking education is the easiest way to control the population. If you want to be free, you better get your hands on some knowledge. You also need to recognize that anyone who is trying to erode your ability to get an education wants to exploit and oppress you.
Making people uncomfortable is good
Yeah, I said a lot of things in this article that are going to make people squirm. They squirm the same way they do if you show up at Thanksgiving dinner and announce that one of your family members sexually assaulted you. That's JUSTICE! Justice makes corrupt people UNCOMFORTABLE!
So don't be afraid to expose and denounce flawed and corrupt institutions. Yes, it will make people angry and uncomfortable. But if you remain silent, you condemn everyone you care about to a life of misery and abuse.
The next guy who tries to install himself as a dictator in the US, might not be an lazy, inept, and incompetent fool. You should be scared. You should be angry.

All of your ideas are big and bold, and a challenge to accomplish. Let’s add Number 11: Pass a law to get rid of Citizens United. Corporations are NOT people and should have no way to influence elections. Russ Feingold and John McCain tried to get the moneyed interests out of politics and came close to succeeding. Number 12: (Another small but important act.) Reinstate the Voting Rights Act, including the Amendments to it, to end voter suppression and punish those who try to do it. Also, I fully agree it is essential to greatly improve education. Taxpayers need to fully fund public education, not try to support private (exclusive and subversive) schools through vouchers. Every kid deserves a great school. Finally, and my pet peeve, let’s have Medicare for all. Get rid of for-profit, private “Disadvantage Plans” that prey on the less savvy elderly, helping pay for cheap glasses but denying life-saving treatments.
Great article. I've been making people uncomfortable long before I realized I was a liberal feminist. It pisses my parents off that I've rejected organized religion, but I'm so sick of so-called Christians for using their religious beliefs as a justification for hate of anyone not white and straight. And I still (amd will forever) call out sexual predators out for the slimey dog shit that they are. Thank you for your writing!
