Great stuff as usual. I'm curious about the non-Medium views and reads. How do people find it outside of Medium to read? If a story is boosted, does Medium shoot it out across the interwebs somehow to try to convert those readers to members? I've had several boosted stories that had more non-Medium views than Medium views... it struck me as odd.

Thanks for any insight you have on this! :)

Normally Boost is directed internally at Medium. You are paid based on reads from subscribers. Outside views are a bit of a conundrum for me since articles on Medium are behind a paywall. Maybe that feature tracks how often internet users are able to go around the paywall. I am not aware of ways Medium might promote stories to draw in new users. There is a friend link, or you can make the choice to not monetize your stories, but I don't use those features and I'm still getting non-Medium views. That's an interesting question, I guess I don't have the answer.
