Trump has made hate his party line. He has made ignorance a badge to be worn with pride. By ripping apart people’s personal relationships, he has broke this country from the inside out.

Like you, I don’t believe in the red wave. Trump has given up even the pretense of caring about the citizens of America. He’s went so far off script that only his most blindingly loyal sycophants still support him. Unfortunately, that’s still a significant number of people, but the enormous blue wave that is coming on November 5th will finally sweep them out to sea.

Our country will have a lot of healing to do and serious reflection after Kamala’s win. Trump must be prosecuted and held accountable for his treasonous actions. We cannot pardon him (like Nixon), and close the door on this last decade. We cannot forget. Trump, and his minions, should be made into examples of what happens to fascists who try to destroy the very fabric of America. If not, there will always be someone who thinks it’s possible to do this again. The genie is out of the bottle now.

I’m nervous but appreciate your confidence. We early voted yesterday in Gaston County NC, a MAGA stronghold. 2nd day, early voting, longest line we’ve experienced in 30 yrs voting in this county. 45minute wait…but boy did it feel good to cast my vote for Harris/Walz and Democrats all up and down the ballot💙

The media is trying to spin the early voting surge as if it "doesn't mean anything." They're not being honest. It means there is a lot of support for Democrats. I'm nervous too, but also confident.

🩵I’ve cut a sibling out because of his support of orange Mussolini. And because he sent me death threats after January 6th. I have two Asian children. Another brother has a lesbian daughter with a trans girlfriend. His support of MAGA disgusts me and he no longer deserves a place in my family or my heart.

I suppose I’m lucky being an American abroad. It would be hard for my brother to get to me. But I am the oldest of 5, have 3 children, and nieces and nephews. Most still in the US. And I have such guilt at being over here, being safe from the MAGats, and not being able to protect the people I love. I know that expectation is ridiculous, but now that both my parents are hone, I feel like I need to be the protector. I do what I can. I vote. I speak out. And I’m very active in Democrats Abroad. I hope and pray all of you stay safe and strong!

You both did what you had to. In addition to tearing the nation apart, trump has also done the same to families. But we all need to do what we need to stay safe and sane, and also remember that we do not choose our relatives. We get who we get as an accident of fate. A small consolation is that we know we are on the side of goodness and decency. That is more important than putting up with any who are against those things.

Yes, I am an artist and I have made my own personal Harris/Walz sign for my bedroom window. I will wait to see if the management tells me to remove it. On the other hand, wearing my "Abortion is on the ballot' pin has indeed drawn some strange looks, after all it is bright pink and quite large....

I agree with your analysis, Walter. For years, the right wing incessantly lied and whispered about Bill and Hillary and that inundation of negativity definitely affected the public consciousness. The right wing lie masheen hasn't had the opportunity to long term troll Kamala. I have confidence that she will capture the popular vote, but am worried about MAGA cheating with fake electors and the possibility of violence at polling places, state certification offices, and the Capitol.

Thank you for this. I will sleep better. Like you, I also voted for Hilary and "thought" she had a chance. Working phone banks again this weekend for Ms. Harris, cannot bring myself to knock on doors or travel to Nevada with others. I think I have enough money in my bank account for bread and other staples. Good I do not eat much. I am not religious, but found myself reading Proverbs last night so I could fall asleep after watching that old Denzel Washington movie where he plays an attorney and then is killed at the end. I found myself weepy when his character began speaking about the first amendment, and actually looked it up, because I remembered all the violence from Jan 6 etc. In any case, the Proverb that caught my eye was, "my child if sinners entice you, do not consent...." And all I could think about was the right wing Christian right, our new political movement and what hypocrites they are and will be for the duration. I just wish my Kamala Harris shirt and campaign buttons will arrive before the election....

That’s a great article, Walter. However, I’d like to point out a few things.

In 2016, many small business owners voted for Trump, because he was one of them, a business owner. They bought his lies that he’d make their lives better. I know one particular LGBTQ+ individual who voted for him, based on that one assumption. Haven’t seen this guy in years, so I’m not real sure exactly how that worked out for him, but I can only imagine it wasn’t good.

This year is also the first time in my life, I’m 66, that I honestly feel hopeful about our country. The Harris/Walz campaign is the first one I’ve seen that honestly feels like hope & caring. It’s a pleasure hearing both our candidates talk about how they want our future to be better. Exactly how candidates should talk.

I have confidence, based on the simple facts that 1) Gen Z is so over the Republicans capitulation to the NRA, that they’ll vote in huge numbers for common sense gun controls. No single person needs an AR-15 rifle; it was designed for military use; 2) Republicans have really stepped in it when they began taking women’s rights away. Any woman voting for one this year, doesn’t care about their rights. Abortion was just the beginning. Remember when Republicans used to claim Sharia Law was coming to our country? It is if we give them that power again. 3) A lot of us are just plain sick & tired of the do nothing but cause chaos Republicans that are running for office these days. They’re not supporting our country, are in politics to get rich, and care nothing about governing. They want us to return to mid-evil times where Lords ruled over Serfs. As a woman, mother, & grandmother, I simply refuse to live under their conditions. My mother, aunts, sisters fought these tough battles during my childhood, why must I now fight them all over again?

The 2020 election was way closer than it should ever have been. I think there are more Magas than the polls indicate but even so I think VP Harris has this. The DNC has hired an army of election lawyers to defend against any nefarious voter tampering. It cannot get to the corrupted and bought off Supreme Court. We have to win by overwhelming margins.

I’m way more nervous about the Senate. There is no Republican Party and they will continue their maga ways unless we win it all. 🤞

I too hope you’re right. I’ve come to think there are many false polls stating how close the race is. But I’m sure I believe this because I can’t see half of this country still supporting tRUMP and his MAGAts - there is nothing true or positive in their campaign! But I had a conversation with a really close relative recently and she refuses to believe anything I try and tell her. She even told me Kamala is an idiot. I’ve watched enough of Kamala through her interviews and the convention that to call her an idiot at this point means she’s not thinking for herself. Just following the lies she’s been told over and over again on her right wing media outlets. Which she claims are the most unbiased news outlets out there. I can’t cut her out of my life as you suggest. I have to hope that someday she - and all the tRUMP fans - will realize their folly. But since they’ve already forgiven him an insurrection and so many other crimes, etc and are fine with having the Supreme Court declare he’s above the law, that my hope is pretty small at this point.
