For me, I believe I can revel in the hope and joy provided by Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, while simultaneously fighting against the subhuman criminal running against them. I do not want to be blinded by hope and joy, nor do I want to be swallowed up by the hatred I feel for that toxic orange scumbag.
I look at the “Joy and hope “ as a huge brick wall that stops the bullies. It lays them on their a$$. We regroup behind that wall, then we go get our justice.
Absolutely, but we can't pretend they're not a threat and that they aren't causing people to suffer even as we speak. That eats into my joy to some extent.
Very well said, Walter. It's the reason I was so disappointed when Nixon was pardoned by Ford. At least the republican party turned on Nixon and forced him to resign. Now we have no "normal" republican party. And we must pursue Justice for all of the criminals involved as well as uplift the downtrodden in this country who have been kept down for so long. It will take all of us to stay involved. Together we can do this.
Walter Walter Walter … this is perhaps the best piece of work on bullies that I have ever read and listened to .. it is so spot on .. we can’t simply work on the joy side .. accountability must happen .. the picture you created in my mind of them whining as they are held accontable is so correct .. I am planning on promoting your articles on bullying as far and wide as I can .. maybe then people will start to toughen up and take action when in the presence of bullies
Amen. Glad to see that my anger is shared by someone who is far more articulate than I am in explaining the why it cannot be allowed to continue and why the perpetrators and their enablers need to be not only shunned, but shamed, and silenced. I firmly believe the only deterrent is prison, and the absence of a megaphone for the bullies that is the result of incarceration.
I agree. It's not enough to get caught up in the joy of a dynamic, forward-thinking campaign. There needs to be a balance between the exhilarating hope of a new regime and the realization that there's hard social justice work to be done. A kind of realistic optimism. Thanks for your post.
He is basically a modern Hitler and Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz with all the their supporters have “ taken the bull by the horn” and the “bull” is fighting back with all his might. They need all the support they can get to take down the bull.
Yes. The hard part is that among our opponents are those people who are pretending to be kind, but who appeal to the side of justice to "slow down" or "don't demand so much." The moderates are just as much the enemy as the radicals. Thanks for the comment!

Yes, I agree with that. But "not being swallowed up" doesn't mean we can ignore what a threat he is. Thanks for the comment!
I would say he’s the greatest threat to our country in my lifetime.

Yes, perhaps if there had been accountability then, the future would have been much better.
A message to live by: “If you want peace, work for justice”
Well said.

Thank you very much Gene, I appreciate that!
Bullies created school shooters.
In fact, bullies are at the heart of every reactive force, whether positive or negative.
Eradication of the bullies and embracing the views of victims is the only way forward.
Yes, I think we've historically celebrated or at least apologized for bullies, perhaps denouncing them is the change in perspective we need.

I believe that too. We need to make an example of the blatant bullies so that the ones on the fence get their act together.
As always, a great retrospective on what we need for a bright and fair future!
Thank you very much Mark!
Thank you. You have written an important piece.
Thank you Karen!
Right on.
Thanks! There's a perspective shift that has to happen in the us.
This one, I’m saving. And I don’t save many. We’ll need this in the days, weeks, and months following November 5.
Thank you!

Perhaps the twist in the current story is that our heroine is also a career prosecutor....a woman of color.....the perfect mix of empathy and justice.
