Don’t forget all the women dying in hospitals or hospital parking lots because of draconian abortion laws. Or the woman on Georgia on life support only to save the fetus. Evil is an understatement with these people
You are absolutely right. I thought I'd mentioned that, but maybe I was thinking of another article. That is another Republican crime against humanity without a doubt.
Per AP: "The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that it would revoke guidance to the nation’s hospitals that directed them to provide emergency abortions for women when they are necessary to stabilize their medical condition."
We can dig into the weeds and try to determine if that Executive Order means much, since a) It was probably AI-generated, and b) the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) (which allows for abortions during emergencies in hospitals that accept federal funds) is still the law of the land.
But there's no point in digging into the weeds because we know Republicans will try to kill the EMTALA. I wouldn't be surprised if killing it has snuck into the Big Ugly Budget Bill.
To your point, women in rural Georgia will probably be in greater danger than those in Atlanta, which is doubly and triply ironic, considering voting patterns.
There aren't enough men (like Walter) screaming about this. We know the women are pissed. Where are the men?
It is hateful and and deplorable. I don't know how a doctor could live with himself doing that. They have said the child will have minimal chance of survival at birth. just devastating for the family.
These are terrifyingly evil times. I wonder how ICE agents would react if the evil they are seemingly addicted to, assaulted one of their children? Or their spouse? Or their mother? How would an ICE agent react if his child was so horribly traumatized, brutalized, and threatened?
Would they care, then, or shrug it off as "just one of those things"
I've been on this little blue ball for awhile and I can't remember a split in moral decency like this. During the Vietnam War, I was very young, and I came home during lunch from my sixth grade class wearing a black armband supplied by my teachers to protest the war. My conservative mom was furious.
But guess what? Everyone came around. Everyone, for the most part, finally said, "No, seeing a photograph of a naked girl running from an American napalm attack is not something I want to see in my morning newspaper." Those who didn't come around quietly accepted the fact that the rest of us did.
These days, it seems like half the population would celebrate a photo like that. What are we supposed to do with that information?
Thanks for the perspective Charles. Yes, it's so distressing. I guess after Vietnam the forces of evil set about figuring out how to erode the decency of all Americans over the next 50 years, and that brought us to today. There are still a lot of people with compassion in the US. We just have to rouse them to action.
As if it happened yesterday, Charles, I remember that visual clear as day, to this day. And, as horribly troubling as our days of Growing Up were, these times are even moreso, imho. Our parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, one and all were survivors of (for some), World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, The Korean War, Vietnam. The Assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (sorry drumpf but that was real, nothing at all like your poorly staged loser attempts).
Fast forward to Trickle Down Economics and Watergate. We've been through stuff. But none of us have gone through what is happening now: A convicted traitor placed into the highest office in the land. The Evilest of Evil. One wonders if tRumps mother would be stupefied.
Gosh, if only I had an answer. I guess it’s a question for future sociologists and historians. The optimist in me wants to think people have a breaking point, but we don’t really seem to be there yet outside our echo chambers. And the optimist in me was 100% sure, not 99%, that Kamala would not only win, but win big.
Evil is as evil does. I too have released any and all friends and family who support those evil doers. When Evil wakes up in the morning, looks at its face in the mirror, what do you suppose its first thoughts are...? "Good morning. Ahh I'm so refreshed, I can't wait to go terrorize more children and women".... Sad. Scary. Daunting and haunting.
I was not convinced that 70,000,000+ humans voted for Evil again. Are there really that many evil minded people here? Remember, money talks and Musks multi billion dollar cash contributions to all things day-glow orange, spoke loudly. Loudly enough to cast enough votes.
Reviewing some of the replies to your article, it amazes me that so many people still refuse to own their reality, choosing re-direction and blame-game techniques, instead. Truth, Walter: Sadly, maybe there really are 70,000,000+ orange kool-aid ingesting-not-so-smart-evil-minded-people in America, after all.
One of my major difficulties with this election is how to deal with my feelings toward friends and acquaintances who I know voted for trump. I’m sorely tempted to declare them “dead to me” and move on. But is that being shallow, petty, or tiny and narrow? Perhaps, I guess, but I don’t think I care. I just think the gap between myself and acquaintances who thought trump was the best choice, in spite of the fraud, lies, misogyny, racism and more is too wide to continue.
I’d really appreciate anyone’s thoughts and ideas on this. TIA
Joe Biden aging&weak voice should never have been an issue. Kamala Harris was the perfect candidate. Tough, articulate, accomplished, younger. No penis&dark skin, though.
I don’t want to hear about Joe Rogan. I don’t want to hear about Bernie. Vote for the person who wins the primaries.
Just pouting&voting for Trump or not bothering to vote because the Democratic Party didn’t shape the whole platform around your wishes is childish.
Do I think Chuck Schumer should step aside? I do. Do Democrats need to discuss our future? Of course, but most of this is on voters.
I’ve been struggling for the past six months, wanting an over-arcing explanation for Trump, and his enablers and, above all, the 70 million voters who willingly chose this person to lead.
I so agree! I am sick of being told, “We need to find common ground. We need to try to understand how they feel.” NO! I don’t care why they feel like all their racism and sexism and lack of caring is ok! IT’S NOT! I’m tired of pretending the rest of us are somehow at fault for not being compassionate enough.
Soy el unico gringo que dice la verdad! Gracias por tu comentario! Mi esposa es una immigrante, y estoy muy frustrato con la intolerancia que ha vuelto a ser la identidad de EEUU.
This! Exactly! This! I am exhausted by talking heads and wannabes trashing Kamala’s campaign and then placing the blame for T2 on her. She didn’t do it. It was the 70M+ hate filled voters with evil intentions.
I agree. Germany had to come to terms with that too, post WWII. Many of their citizens, who thought they were "good people," bought right into Nazi ideology. They looked the other way when death camps were built down the road, then theor brother or uncle applied to work there, leading people into lines where half of them would die, sending children into gas chambers, taking gold jewelry off them after pulling out their deaf bodies. So-called "good" people did this. It was evil. I am sick of, "these are good people making bad choices." That is nonsense. People ultimately have the autonomy to make choices. You choose evil or you choose to rebel against evil. You don't pretend, you don't make excuses as to why you couldn't or why it is okay. It's not okay. It is never okay to treat people with cruelty. It is never okay to take away people's rights, or treat sone folks like gum under your shoe. Evil IS real in America, just like it was very real in Germany. It CAN happen here. It IS happening here. It is not okay, ever.

Truth! Thank you Walter for revealing the evil that we all feared is among us.

a la puppy killer Joni Ernst.
This is one of your best works! Couldn’t agree more!
Thank you!

Yes, you're right there, Walter. It's been a steady march since then, and here we are. Rouse them we will!

Well stated on all points.

I fully agree, my friend!
Thanks Zsolt! How are things going for you? I haven't heard from you in a while. Wishing you all the best!
I needed an interruption. Reading bs of gurus how to bevo e s millionaire overnight didn’t help.
I decided to put my head down and write further “My way”.

It’s not. They’re toxic, evil people who don’t care about you. You feel better without them.
I completely agree.
Joe Biden aging&weak voice should never have been an issue. Kamala Harris was the perfect candidate. Tough, articulate, accomplished, younger. No penis&dark skin, though.

Your article helped codify my thinking.

Es verdad. Ahora esta muy de miedo y también muy frustrante.
I wish I had your gift with words.
Thank you Fightin' Mad!
And don’t forget the majority voted for someone else besides Trump!
This! Exactly! This! I am exhausted by talking heads and wannabes trashing Kamala’s campaign and then placing the blame for T2 on her. She didn’t do it. It was the 70M+ hate filled voters with evil intentions.
