Wow. This is powerful. I am so grateful that you have become the empowered person you are today.

The way you are able to give, even demand decency and transcend bad things to even make your readers feel empowered is a miraculous feat.

You always write about the bad things and hammer them into strength and courage, power and victory through vulnerable honesty.

There are people who complain. And then there are victors who conquer. You’re a humble conqueror, Walter.

That's a very, very kind comment Christine! the older I get, the more I wish I had a better understanding of things. We just have to achieve one little grain of wisdom every day. That's my hope. :) Thanks again for your kind words!

I take a lot of wisdom from your posts, Walter. There’s another female writer who I enjoy very much as well here, Mia Vega-Ayala Although I’ve read many many writers, you and she stick out for me personally. We all have those people we resonate with.

Also, as a complete U-turn side note: your daughters are so fortunate to have such a truly honest, life experienced father as well as a great mother (just what I glean from the little things you’ve said about your wife) guiding them through life. It’s not quite the same world it was.

Bless you all!

Thank you so much. My eldest and I went for a bike ride yesterday and it was a joy. We just chatted along. I spend all of my time trying to figure out ways to tell her about all my mistakes so that she doesn't repeat them. You're very kind, I should check out this other writer you mentioned :)

That sounds wonderful, quality father-daughter time.

I think you would like Mia. Her writing resonates with me in the same way Maya Angelou sparked such interest in me as a young reader. If you happen to check her out perhaps you will feel that way also. She discusses hard topics like you do from her personal experiences.

I am catching up on all of your things from this past week as I have time to this weekend. I appreciate your voice notes because I'm able to clean my house simultaneously. Haha.

I recommended her newsletter. I'm delighted that you brought her to my attention. Oh good, I'm glad you listen while you do other things. I do that too!

Walter, I do think your dad left when he sensed the shift of powers. He might have able to create a power bubble for his ‘troops’, but probably as you and others aged he was losing his tight grip. He steadfastly maintained he was ‘the best’, and ironically leaving may have been the best thing he did. It freed everyone who survived, to breathe again.

That's actually very insightful. That absolutely sounds like what was happening. It is a shame that he never bothered to look inward and be a force of good in our family.
