Our divided Country, will never get better , until we insist on accuracy. Lies, fear and ensuing anger, created MAGA

Yes, we need some truth for a change. It makes people less angry.

Something I will never forgive the media for is knowing who the Kardashians are. I'm with you on wishing I could make my wishlist minus at least those same people.

Before advertising came along announcing that floors must be Spic N Span clean, what did people do? Live in dirty houses? Advertisers are modern day spell casters with people gobbling up the commands to do as they are told to live holy lives... as gawd intended? Ugh, humans are absurdly gullible creatures. I keep being amazed at each discovery I have buried in my psyche that turns out isn't true. Luckily, I change my thoughts and beliefs with each new one.

You're right on the way they download malicious ideas into our heads. We have to help each other root them out, and be thankful rather than embarrassed when people enlighten us. Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

Very important statement, Walter. I think we need laws that require ‘equal treatment’ (fairness doctrine) for all platforms over a certain size. So, it’s not viewpoint censorship, you can have a small neo-Nazi newsletter, but lack of balance in major outlets should be monitored and fined. We have to take entertainment out of news.

Absolutely, the return of the fairness doctrine would do a lot to reunite our society and make us strong again. Division is weakening us, and it's all the right knows how to do.

"The kicker is that we already have anti-trust laws in the United States."

And they have been used effectively since they were first enacted in the 1910s (though perhaps they need updating for the digital age). Because of them, as much as John D. Rockefeller fought tooth and nail to keep it intact, Standard Oil got broken up, and only historians remember its name now. There's no reason why that couldn't happen to an influential 21st century company down the line, and they all know it. Why do you think they backed the businessman candidate?

Big money donors have made the US reluctant to follow its own laws.

There has not yet been devised a "gatekeeper" to filter out all the crap we get sent. The freedom to subscribe (etc.) to whatever we want is a great testament to Democracy. But, equally, there are now things I do not want to see, especially if it implies that I support them, or they are demonstrably inaccurate. Cut them off before I have to see or hear anything about the Kardashians (and Tucker, Jesse, Ted, etc.). My remaining time has to be spent on devouring positivity; I just don't have the time or energy to sift through it all.

I agree. My friend spends all his time walking in the woods with his dogs, I think he's on to something.

This is truly important, thank you! I’m trying to read only people I feel I can count on to tell the truth, and who are committed to doing so. But you are right in saying we still find ourselves bombarded by propaganda we don’t want. Fortunately, I am educated and, I hope, fairly discerning. Not everyone has that advantage (and I do understand what an advantage it is).

Yes, and that’s the advantage we have to share with others. We have to get people to trust legitimate sources. It’s a daunting task, but we’ll figure out how.
