I agree with your commentary as it applies to Christianity, WHICH WAS most likely NOT THE pastoral ministry of Jesus Christ before flawed human beings decided to document a socio-religious history of an itinerant missionary who lived and transitioned centuries before they voted on what was then presented as Canonical

Hi Walter,

I found my response to (Ithink) this article that I wrote back in March. I apologize that I dudnt revise but am going 2 publish as is because I want you 2 see what I was thinking about and feeling in response to your writing:

Im thinking about your essay that sees fascism at the very foundation of christianity. Very astute and heart-felt. As a still-christian, as well as Buddhist & trying to also be a socially progressive, I feel uncomfortable at times with your words, but they often hit home and help me understand more about the doubts I have been having esp. When I saw the huge 'Jesus Saves' Sign waved in the Jan. 6 mob storming the Capitol as well as losing 2 good friends & a relative over their support of Trump. The same press secretary wearing that huge cross just announced without shame that the admin she makes excuses for will be closing the DOE. I am trying to read more dystopian books again like 1984, the handmaid's tale and new ones like Feed by MT Anderson. and When the Reckoning Comes. But it's hard, because I'm experiencing cognitive dissonance as i try 2 read these books.

Americans including me, like a happy ending and I've read enough WW II history, rewatching Man in the High castle to see that the ideas of a city on a hill, democracy, better angels are starting to become meaningless, faded and lost in this current iteration of Fascism which may be more virulent due to thar we are already losing our sense of a common history due to the continual erasure by new technology/social media.

Then after dinnern9f lentil stew made in crockkpot whole i napped, i read more in a novel called Corinne, about a woman who was kicked out of her  church 4 having pre-marital sex as a teen and then falls back into an affair as an adult with the same guy. It is both kind of addictive and saddens me because I can see both the cluelessness and cruelty of mysogyny and also can feel how the esp. sexual repression, hatred of female bodies that  I grew up around and internalized  still affects me.

It is very well-written but

I don't see it having a happy ending. I stopped reading Men have called her crazy, bcuz it also made me sad tho i saw areally good novie in a boy with schozophrenia last night cslled Words on Bathroom Walls which was realistic but  sympathetic and even funny in parts. I   read an essay on Christian nationalism also on substack, and am wishing I didn't still feel like I am drawn to be part of a church.
