Definitely beats one of my most memorable experiences with my dad, which was being made to play accordion at a school talent show in grade 8 while he grinned and clapped in the audience. I would have taken an aggressive eagle over that any day. 😆 Well, maybe. 🤔

It was my dad who made me a baseball fan in the '50s. It also was my dad who turned me off football for the next 66 years. He also introduced me to beer and made me a lifelong avoider. All in all, three nice favors.

What a wonderful story Walter. I live in the Pacific Northwest. We have a lot of Bald Eagles on our island. There's a group that heckles pickleball players, a nest not far from my home in the forest, a beauty who comes to drink in our pond, and one I surprised on a morning walk not long ago. A deer had died close to the twisting trail. I walked around a corner and found myself about four feet away from an eagle feasting. It spread its seven-foot wings, flexed its talons, and swooped right past me onto a high fir branch. Then it stared at me indignantly. No worries, I ran down the trail. OMG! The closest I've been, and that's enough for this lifetime.

Loved this. Good on you for taking your kids into nature. My parents did the same and even though we bitched and moaned at times, those adventures were the best we had. 🦅👍
