From the moment that the moose wandered into the screen in "Cicely," in episode 1, I was hooked. For a time we ran the "Northern Exposure Fan Club from my Orlando condo. I even enjoyed a couple of days in Roslyn, WA, photographing the production. Eccentricities abound, as does human warmth. My life. It will always be one of my all-time favorite programs. So nice to see you bring it up in 2024.
Resident Alien is THE show if you are an old Northern Exposure fan. Totally different and totally the same. First on SciFi channel, now on Netflix too.
I’m so excited to know I can find it on Netflix. I will share with my daughter who is 24. She’ll love it. And to see a young “Chris” again! I can’t wait! I feel so nostalgic as well. Thanks for reminding me, Walter. I remember reeling from a broken engagement and just holing up every Friday night and watching it. Brought me lots of comfort as well.
Thanks for reminding me of a series I truly enjoyed when it was first on. Finally, something to watch on Amazon Prime while my SO is deeply enthralled in play-wars (sports) on TV.
I have had similar experiences with other television programs, but too many of them had way too short runs and abbreviated episode counts. I use them as examples of how television animation can be undervalued even when it is exceptional.
Love that show!!! I am also moving through it on Prime, taking my time. Not bingeing, but savouring every moment. It is so comforting - for me. With my son born early 90’s, it takes me back to hubby and I as young married folk, pre-child and when my son was very small - the very best time in our lives. Northern Exposure was one of our favourite shows.
I loved that show. Quirky and philosophical. There was an ethos to that show. But my favorite and moving episode was called 'Flinging the Cow', or maybe 'Slinging the Cow' and now you have reminded me that it may be the perfect time to rewatch Northern Exposure. Thank you, Walter.
My great writer friend Charles Rosin created this and BHills 90210. I will email this to him today. We went to elementary school together in BHills and remain buddies. May I tell you he is great, generous , down to earth, loving husband, dad and grandfather. Lives in Venice CA and still surfs @ 73.
Oh, that's so lovely! I would like to send him my personal thanks. I'm watching the show now with my children and in the wake of the election, it's providing us with an appealing vision of what the world can be like. Plus, I grew up in Wisconsin, so the streets I walked were very similar to what appears in Cicely, Alaska :) I hope to hear from him!
I'm binging Dexter. Every time he kills someone I imagine it's any one of the multitude off batshit crazy GOP garbage truck clowns. Fictional revenge murder is helping me deal with my issues! Next up Justified!

I know for sure it's on Amazon prime, but I don't know if it's on Netflix. Yes, it's a fun one to watch with the kids :)
I will look for it!
Northern Exposure and Chris's radio show are the reasons I write on substack :) https://satyamarino.substack.com/p/tutta-colpa-degli-orsi
Great show! I almost forgot about that one

“Northern Exposure had made its way to Amazon Prime. “ THANK YOU! I wanted to watch it end to end after visiting Alaska!

Yes, that's a good one. I also like "Seoul Mates."
I loved watching Northern Exposure. Thanks for letting me know it’s on Prime.
It's such a relaxing show to watch. It's providing a lot of comfort, especially now.
That’s what we all need right now, some comfort for the long days ahead.
