Thank you! I've struggled with not being around my family at all yesterday. I did wish them all a Happy Thanksgiving but I'm not ready yet to be around them. I don't trust myself to keep my mouth shut as I know some of them wouldn't either. So for everyone to have a peaceful Thanksgiving I thought that was best. Plus it was my husband's and my 37th Anniversary. I don't know that I'll be ready in 2 weeks for our big Christmas party or to do Christmas here as usual either. It's not politics it's about hate, violence, racism and morals. I don't see how they voted against their own daughters, granddaughters and women PERIOD!! Some of these i thought were true Christians. But you can't be a true Christian and vote for him at the same time.

I think that first year free of them is the hardest, then things start to feel a whole lot better!

Oh, I don't know that the first year is hard. It's just not as easy and happy as every other year that follows.

Thank you. I often say people have the right to be self-protective. There is no law that you have to be around horrible people, in fact, maybe such individuals will learn to be better to others if enough people shut them out of their lives.

It's amazing how once you get away from them, your life starts to go a whole lot better!

After simply making the decision to delete the toxic persons (family members, neither of whom voted for Trump. They're just fucking toxic and mean.) and taking the first preliminary actions, My life is immediately better, sunnier, happier. I feel like I have worth again!

Your story is the story of most of our families. Your thoughts are priceless .. to me! .. I have gone to my daughters for thanksgiving because I know her and her family love me to the end of the earth .. where we often break into a conversation on how we can build ourselves a family compound in a country that is safe .. our lives are in deed short .. we need to find happiness.. always!

It’s upsetting to hear how often this is the reality. The American family is a cruel thing. So many people are suffering, and it would take only a few minor changes to ensure they feel better.
