I grew up in southern New Mexico; every year my family (all seven of us) would pile into the station wagon and go up to the Lincoln National Forest and chop down our Christmas tree. We would spend hours looking for the perfect tree. It was a lot of fun. I don’t know if the Lincoln National Forest Service still sell permits ($1.00 in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s) as people (from Texas) would climb up the tall pines and chop off the tops.😖
