I saved this story to listen to today and it made me smile. Del laughed out loud when I told him the story about the cake. It’s good balance to keep in these times-some whimsical to balance the hard.

That's nice! I have the picture of the cake too. I should share that here. I have to be mindful to write more lighthearted stories, but it's tough with all that's going on.

Walter, I loved the peek inside your world—away from politics. Dust mote fairies are quite special, as are parents who make time to have fun with their kids. I hope it was a good breakfast. 😁

I loved your story about the cake. When we would buy a birthday cake for a friend or relative we would go to a bakery and have them decorate a cake for a retirement party or an anniversary and have it inscribed “Happy Retirement Martha” or “Happy 50th Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa” and say we were able to get the cake for 50% off. It became a “thing” and whoever was going to bring a cake needed to outdo the craziness of how the cake was decorated and inscribed. It never said “Happy Birthday” of course.

Haha, I used to do that for Graduation cards. I'd get "Celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary" and then scribble it out and put "Happy Graduation."
