Sorry not sorry that I have to state this AGAIN : No one is illegal on stolen land . We as a society conveniently forget how this country was invaded and allegedly "discovered " . Our sense of compassion and decency has been overcome by white supremacy . Tired of the arrogance truly, its pathetic. Thank you Mr Rhein, I learned a lot in the article and via your posts

Your post resonates with me. A person I know was a doctor in his native country. Came to the U.S. on a student visa and then obtained a work visa (healthcare field during Covid), married an American, has a child born in the United States, obtained a green card and is on the path to naturalization. After visiting his parents in his native country, the customs agent said, "You can come in (return to the U.S.) for now."

Absolutely sickening!

Yep. It's that "righteous" thing. Goes with retribution and revenge.

I think these came from "The Sermon on the Mount."

I say to you:

Make the little children suffer.

The sociopathic narscissists shall inherit the earth (and trash it before being raptured to Mars).

Blessed are the warmakers in my name.

My mom has a green card and encountered this exact situation. Her green card expires in June. In February we filled out the paperwork for a new green card. She had already received her new passport from her country of origin. We sent tge paperwork in, and received a receipt. Then we got a date when she had to appear at the immigration office to confirm the passport and her ID with her paperwork. This was in April. It is now May and we still have not received the new Green card. My mom's old green card (expiring in June) does state: permanent resident on the top, but she is still afraid. By the way, my mom is 89 and has lived in this country legally since she was 25! I was born in the U.S. in 1961, so you can see how absurd all of this is. Luckily Biden had signed into law a provision that one has 36 months following the expiration of a green card as long as paperwork was filed. This shows us again that Biden was wise as he knew what could potentially happen if a raving racist lunatic like Trump got into office. Thanks for all your writing. Keep up the good work.

Best wishes to your mom! The disrespect the current administration shows to our senior citizens is so appalling. I hope it gets sorted out soon. Yes, thank goodness for Biden!

Wherever anyone is, they are legal there, right? I can't understand why marriage to a citizen doesn't convey citizenship automatically.

I will also cut people out of my life for insinuating that my daughter is not American. I adopted my daughter when she was 13 months old, almost 16 years ago. She was adopted from China, and she is a U.S. citizen. She came over during the Obama administration, and I thought things were getting pretty good in America.

Boy was I wrong.

She is sometimes referred to as "not a regular American." And she told me only a few weeks ago that if she is deported, that I should stay here and not worry about getting her, as it would be a risk to go to China after her. Why the hell should she be so scared? This administration is nothing short of toxic.

I told her I would go to China with her, no way would I stay here. And I am sick and tired of people's anti-Asian rhetoric and hate crimes.

That’s awful you have to put up with that. I’ve tried complaining at the local churches about the anti-immigrant sentiment but they don’t care. It’s so infuriating.

When you look at the cabinet that has been formed there are several that if they were ordinary citizens could easily be pulled over and sent to El Salvador's lovely institution forever. Dark skinned, Tattooed, etc. Maybe when all of this is behind us these people will be dealt with properly for all their sins.
