Nice article. I'm actually quite impressed that you got so many readers right at the get go of your Peruvian blog. Sounds like you were successful right at the beginning.

Any trips to Peru in the offing?

Cheers

We were down in Peru for a short trip back in June. That was the first time we'd seen the family since COVID.

I think it was easier to gain followers back before social media sites began to dominate how people use the internet. Maybe there was just less content on the internet back then too? That's weird to think isn't it?

Maybe it was because I was writing about a niche people were curious about. Peru surged in popularity when Machu Picchu was named one of the modern wonders of the world. It used to be that if you did an image search for Choquequirao it would almost exclusively be pictures I'd taken (that's no longer the case).

Yeah, maybe back then good writing and a niche subject were enough. How was Peru this last June? Anything new down there other than the usual chaos? My wife is the voice of Lima airport and the metro. I still wouldn't mind living there, but she likes the lifestyle in the U.S. better, so we shall see.

I'd never heard of Choquequirao. Looks cool.

Cheers
