Thanks, Walter ... I've just received your latest (no idea how I cane to you? It'll be interesting to see what happens now that more countries have joined. On the one hand it sounds like a lot of people are a bit worried about this decreasing earnings; on the other hand I guess if more people join there'll be more dollars to go around 🤷♀️
Thanks for this! I have almost 2k subscribers on Medium. It's a great side hustle, plus I write what I want to write. I'm new to substack and curious about how it "stacks up" (pun intended) to Medium 😀
I tend to start my articles off on Medium and then repost them on Substack after a couple of months. It's a good way to double your earnings on your writing. The platforms compliment each other very well.
Thank you so much Walter for your amazing suggestions. I have not started anything on Substack but I plan to soon. I have saved your article for reference for the future. Thank you again for sharing such valuable information. Blessings to you and your family. :) :)
It took me over a year to really get traction. I like the idea of scheduling a couple month's worth of posts and then forgetting about it. I think you're really going to like Notes.
One important fact that has been overlooked is that, for years, international writers have been paying the monthly subscription fee to Medium without receiving any payouts. This meant that writers in countries supported by Medium for payouts benefited disproportionately. The recent changes have leveled the playing field, albeit a year later than initially announced by Medium.
I expect that as more writers are incentivized in those countries, more readers and writers will join. We'll see what happens. It's all speculation, but I feel very positive about it. Thanks for the comment!
Walter, Thanks for the encouragement about the expansion on Medium. I appreciate the Substack tips, too. BTW, you can rearrange articles in any order you want on your lists.
Medium is the best platform for removing bot accounts, but that means that sometimes human writers get caught up in the mechanism. I wish that they'd send a message that says "we're verifying your identity" rather than "account suspended." Usually accounts are restored, but it is an uncomfortable experience. I appreciate Medium because it's the one platform where I'm not bot swarmed with death threats. Thanks for your comment!
Yeah, to me that's the shocking part. Medium is diligent to the point where they have to inconvenience paying members, and we still get a certain amount of spam. But I strongly believe Medium is the best in the business at ensuring we generally interact with other human beings, so I'm willing to put up with the occasional issue. Still, I feel your pain. I have seen that Medium is willing to implement better practices and adapt, so hopefully it will get better.
I recently decided to expand from Medium to Substack and it feels like a combination of several platforms that I enjoy.
I’ve read your work on both platforms and appreciate the all the tips you’ve shared!
Excellent! I think it's one of those cases where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Sometimes I think not being on Medium is a good thing, and sometimes I envy the writers who are still there...
The platforms go through enormous changes. In 2 or 3 years I expect it will bear little resemblance to what we have now!
True.

Thanks Bill, I'm glad it's helpful!
You are very welcome friend. Blessings. :) :)
thanks, I'm loving the process of getting to know substack. And as you suggested, it's great Medium has expanded.

Thanks Walter - I enjoyed reading your article. So full of great advice!
I have decided to start writing again on Medium as well. Look forward to seeing how it goes. Kristina is awesome! She 💯 knows what she is doing.
Your work on both platforms is amazing! Thank you for bringing people along with you.
Thanks Janet! It's great to hear you'll be submitting more to Medium!
Thanks Walter :-)
Looked at both platforms before choosing this one. Like the idea of posting older Substack content on Medium. Thanks Walter
I went from Medium to Substack, but it can certainly be done in the opposite direction. Best of luck to you!

Can I click on a button and put them in order by date? It seems like I can only rearrange them by moving them individually.
