I’m so sorry. I have an idiot backstabbing brother who sees no contradiction in supporting this orange monster and MAGA while at the same time insisting he loves me and my children (S. Korean adoptees). When I blocked him and cut him off back after the election, he sent me death threats. Two. On paper. Snail mail. Such a moron. But I did file a report. I didn’t bother with a restraining order since I live overseas right now.

Yeah, I've gotten death threats too, but the police didn't take me seriously. Even when you hold them accountable for that they still feel like they're the victims somehow. Good for you for moving overseas!

You did the right thing to cut them out of your life. It's immutably true that relatives are not chosen, they are foisted upon us by circumstances of birth. Friends are voluntary.

They're magnets for bad things in your life, and they always need to be bailed out because of their bad decisions. It's so liberating to be free of them.

I've about given up on trying to rationalize anything with people who are so drunk on the Kool-Aid of Republican lies that they have lost all capacity for rational thought or discourse. Now, I've met some folks who can still have a civil conversation, but the brainwashing from the firehose of lies is damn near impenetrable. Maybe once Mango Tango is locked up and loses his access to be able to spew lies far and wide, maybe then the Republicans will wake up from the MAGA nightmare.

The funny thing is, they don't see that they're not making America great; they're enriching a criminal and making everyone else's life suck.

"brainwashing from the firehose" made me laugh. Yeah, trump attracts violence. The sooner we embrace peace, reason, and prosperity for all, the better.

I gave up on attempting rational discourse with Republican filth years ago. I live in a deep red state, and in a zip code that is even deeper red within that geography. Basket of deplorables indeed. Turns out Hillary was right about literally all of it.

In 2016 I was lenient and gave you a pass if you disliked HRC and wanted an "outsider".

In 2020 you saw all the incompetence and lies after 4 years. Harder to forgive you.

By 2024 you've seen an insurrection and criminal convictions and still support this clown? It says everything about you as a person.

Fuck Republican scum.

"Republicans are whiny little monsters who always get whatever they want." So are Democrats, but they are better at "passing" as those who are not.

These people keep themselves secure in their own political and geographic cul-de-sacs to avoid having to acknowledge the fact that other people who are not like them are also allowed to have political power. While the civil rights movement managed to destroy Jim Crow and other institutionalized forms of racism, its impact at the ground level among non-Blacks was minimal. Thus we have a generation of white people who still assume we live in the 19th century.

I greatly admire your fortitude in calling out and distancing yourself from MAGA family members. 👏🏼👏🏼

Sadly, I think we all have relatives, friends, and neighbors who fall into that category. 🥺

Luckily, the few family members I have live in a different state, so conversations are rare.

With the neighbors, we just pretty much *refrain* from talking about politics, but I think everyone knows where the others stand.

Just a hint, my state elected JDV, but I’m proud to say I live in one of the only 2 (or 3) counties that did not! Still…what an atrocity! 🤯😳🥵

That Vance character is such an embarrassment with his blatant racism. I hope he drives voters away from the ticket, and then the voters remove him from the Senate. Stay safe and thanks for the comment!

A head on collision with an idiot. I am so sorry you had to listen to his bullshit for more than 5 seconds. I hate the willful ignorance, the sheer stupidity. They have confirmation bias on steroids. They don't need to be drunk on alcohol, they're drunk on outrage and drama.

Yeah, and they try to present themselves as reasonable, which is the worst part. Well, they're out of my life now. They took too many liberties and now they must be held accountable.

It all boils down to racism. The Repugs are a good ol’ boyz club. Those of ethnic background who have joined this club have sold their souls—for greed & money & power ? to a group who wants to keep it all away from them? Did you see when JDork Vance’s wife spoke at the RNC (republic of new criminals), when they panned the audience, the looks on the faces were not supportive!

At this point, there’s no excuse to be part of the klan, as the hate & racism has been made abundantly apparent. I’ve had to cut people off too & yet I don’t like to do that. But would we accept a child predator into our lives? Oops, that would be Diablo Donald, too.

I firmly believe if ya see something, say something. So here goes. With Obama I was all in. I like the Biden/Harris, now the Kamala team. BUT- I loathe unfair politics.

HUGE amounts of campaign money have been used for media censoring, big time smearing & blocking ballot access to 3rd party candidates. Whether you believe in 3rd party or not, this is deplorable behavior.

Cornel West, Rfk jr, Jill Stein have had to sue election boards for ballot access. This is because the DEMS have blocked them. Whether you believe in 3rd party or not, this is NOT how a Demacracy is supposed to work.

Walter, don't maybe post this great piece on Facefuck, DO IT! I don't subscribe to FB myself, but I know lots of not very intellectually curious people get their measley servings of 'news' there, so there should at least be some worthy Walter to inspire a light bulb moment perhaps.

It is depressing to have family members who are MAGATS, and there is zero chance of reasoning with them, so after trying to reason and convince the unconvinceable family Bible thumper with the likes of Heather Cox Richardson and other reasonable analysts from SubStack, I am forever banished. So be it. Really a sad state of affairs, all due to one pathological liar rapist toxic narcissist pussy grabber, and his assorted golums.

Keep up the good work, Walter.

It’s so incredibly insane; they legit think that the dems do all the things that republicans actually do. That’s the manipulation and gaslighting of narcissists and thus the republicans playbook: projection projection projection. Fart in a room full of people and immediately blame someone else for it so the farter can’t be blamed anymore (or at least not believably)

Hi Walter, sometimes when I read your writings I want to play the “Try not to get worried” song from JC Superstar for you. It takes enormous energy to feel the intensity of what you feel. I agree with your ideas. I just wonder if you have ways to calm, relax and restore. Heartache can really contribute to heart aches. Finally, can you move to a more blue place? You can keep fighting but be and feel safer for yourself and your family. Hoping you are alive and healthy in 2025
