What the.... As someone not living in the US I'm just hoping this is fiction. How can this even be? Why are you trying to figure out your own meds? How? Why?
My mother in law has copd by the way and it's a terrible illness so I'm sorry to hear you are suffering from it too
Thanks Sophie, my health is actually pretty good. I have long had exercise induced asthma, but I’ve still been able to run and be active. Still, I have to be mindful that just because my health problems aren’t severe, our system really makes people suffer and that’s wrong. I appreciate your concern and wish your mother in law the best.
When one needs action, the insurance companies do have urgent fax numbers that are separate from their usual one. Consult their appeals/grievance department for same. A kindly pharmacist might slip it to you, too.
What you wrote here accurately reflects my experiences of same for the last 46 years of battling for my son’s needs. Even when you Do reach a live body, they inevitably will transfer you to someone else. Repeat repeat repeat. Finally, you are back to the first whose voice you recognize. Rather than put you on hold, the line goes dead. Repeat repeat repeat all day. If they close at 4:30, the line automatically goes dead at 3:30, so these sadists can get to their cars at the stroke of closing time.
it’s rather like the Soviet truism: “We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us,” except that the American version is, “We pretend to work and they pay us very well with benefits and vacation time.” Sighs…
Yes, the US heslthcare system IS this broken and nonsensical to the point of frustrated rage. Year after year, state after state, ER or one hospitalization after another—appallingly inept and medical dangerous bungled or neglected treatment by nurses to doctors, And no, they won’t call in a specialist no matter how bad your vital signs are. Those lucky enough to have health and healthy children, hug them tightly and whisper a prayer of thanksgiving to the god of your chosen faith. You have no idea how truly fortunate you are.
While the recent murder obviously is criminal and inappropriate and unacceptable and an irredeemable sin, it did serve to point out the ineptitudes of the healthcare industry to the entire public and to the powers that be. The medications, procedures, tests, and therapies exist, but, as in criminal accountability, there is a two-tier system that utterly ignores and disrespects the elemental factor of the equality of each precious and unique and irreplaceable human being.
In Europe it used to be much better with health care but, unfortunately, wer heading your way, slowely but surely....
i have also had some issue with doctors- who have such ego and don't care about patients- even if it's a child!!!! Why did they go to medicine??! They could have been lawyers and accountants to earn 6figures... sure, they have stress as well; but that's not the way forward....
COPD: Walter, were probably on corticosteroids and now on Anticholinergics? This gives side effects!!!!
Have you tried different breathing practices?
It takes time and dedication, but it can help when done every day, properly. I don't say it can cure, but alleviate some suffering for sure.
I'm doing much better, I've been focusing on weight loss. But it's frustrating that these doctors don't explain any of that to you. It's just an assembly line.
And right now our government doesn’t care if we live and die section 3 of the 14th amendment needs to be reinforced. We cannot let these clown car Republipukes outlaw the FDIC, so that another great depression can occur FU weird-Lon and talking about the FDA reversing the requirement of polio vaccines because worm monger is back to thinking that iron lungs after catching polio are OK! we need Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to step up and take back our democracy. Joe has immunity and we Americans have all done our jobs by working paying taxes getting good education doing OUR JOBS and now Joe, you need to do yours and use your immunity to get democracy back on track
Too many people get this kind of run-around. Pro Publica investigated denied claims and suggested patients tell the “pros” they’re trying to deal with that they plan to submit a request for a fair hearing with the state. Usually, that gets a quick response. I’m keeping this info with my medical records. (Tip: keep your own files of all medical records.). See photo attached.
Your story sounds so close to mine . . I was able to change outcomes by finding a small clinic (in the Twin Cities) that is owned and operated by the doctors. Their care and attention is the way it should be, my doctor cares about me, and has told me such .. maybe there is a glimmer of hope ..
These insurance and medical providers right now are also the bane of my existence. One issue I am currently having is that I have been overcharge. I called the insurance company, who told me to call my doctor's office and have them resubmit the bill. I spoke to someone at my doctor's office today who referred me to another department. It's maddening!
And the second issue is something that's never happened to me before. I have a doctor's appointment next week Friday. Guess what I got in my email? A bill to pre-pay for the appointment. They are sending me a bill for an appointment I haven't even had yet! What if I can't make the appointment? What if they have to cancel it for some reason? Yet, I'm supposed to pay ahead of time?!?!?!? I asked my insurance provider about it and the customer service person said she's never heard of such. Even she was speechless.
These types of situations happen thousands of times a day. This is why the CEO of United Health met his end. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that a lot of people are at their breaking points. When you're health is being screwed with, some people have nothing left to lose.

At some point our society is going to have to do the responsible thing and simply look after the health and wellbeing of all citizens.

Agreed! We don't have anybody working for us in the government and that's just not fair.

Thank you. I did get it handled by filing a complaint but I'll keep your suggestion in mind
