Well done! 100 miles is no easy feat. The last time I bit off more than I could chew, I went 100+ on my bike transitioned into the run and made it 3 miles before I started throwing up in the ditch. I finished that race but not before dark. I had a glow stick in each hand when i crossed the line. Maybe should have turned back but I was younger and stupider back then.

Thanks for sharing.

I've never done an iron man. I did a half-iron man once and that was enough. The hardest part about biking when you have to transition to the run is remembering how much you have to eat. Finishing with a glow stick in each hand sounds pretty epic! Nice work!

Yes, it is hard to scarf down the calories. You burn about 8000-10000 for the race so you have to plan it pretty carefully. That particular day I screwed up my electrolytes - I mixed my drinks too strong - and I wasn't used to the heat and humidity of Hawaii. Not a great combo. Messed me up.

Bachman Turner Overdrive did a song called "Little Gandy Dancer", so I thought of it when you mentioned the trail. I don't think that was what they meant, though...

That's funny! I know BTO but I've never heard that song. I'll have to look it up!
