A very thoughtful and on-point missive, Walter. Your observations illustrate well the results of poor parenting and misplaced priorities in America. I personally believe that any human considering bearing or adopting children should have at least a minimum amount of parenting education prior to starting a family. The better outcomes are what would make this country a truly civilized, more lovely place. The prisons are full of formerly children that did not receive the care necessary to become whole people. Much suffering ensues.

PS. You are a great dad.

"Prior to the season, there's always a meeting of all the parents and participants." Suppose the "rowdy" ones either forget to attend the meeting, or boycott it?

Brilliant essay.

It's funny, I'm instantly reminded of a time in k-12 when a spoiled brat with a rich daddy got her (in a group project with me) grade changed. Yep. My grade stayed the same but hers got changed from a D to an A. My parents choose to not bully our teacher into changing my grade. It was the grade I earned. I had to live with it and learn from the experience. Goes without saying we were never friends after that, and I forgot all about her.

Decades, later, I hear she turned into a right wing nut job pushing all the Big Lies of the Trumpers. And got called out for it because of course she lacked evidence to back her BS claims. Also, guess what? The voters didn't like her and she lost in her bid for public office. Phew.

While I only saw this from afar and after the fact.... IMHO, All I can say is Phew. On behalf of Democracy!

I'd rather be woke & joyful, enjoying life with true friendships, rather than burying myself in hatred, racism & judgemental thinking. Karma does reciprocate in the most unexpected ways.

I believe in freedom, opportunity and commitment to our republic, a democracy empowered by generations of working immigrants and Native Americans. We are a great nation, the United States of America 🇺🇸 💙 🇺🇸

It's everything ...and it's been quite a few years getting to this point but without a doubt when the unacceptable becomes acceptable this is the outcome .. US oldsters have wAtched it unravel , sadly competition in sports at young ages should have been a clue , all the preparation involved ..all the pressure of being the best ...the biggest ...the loudest ....has totally contributed to a sick society of unacceptable becoming acceptable and compared to old times ,yes, it's horribly alarming. In the old days ,your aunt ,or grandma lived right down the block ,everyone knew everyone and so to be respectable was a demand but as population and city's grew and family's moved away from home bases ....no one cares . They have to get caught first and unless it's a real crime it all goes unpunished and unchecked. This is what's happened to America and it's so sad ...because the entire Nation wants revenge ..or to be the best (ha ha) or to be right no matter how wrong it is . Great article about morals and value that needs to be called out for being Unacceptable.
