Hello Friends!
In this conversation, I had a chance to chat with
and about Medium. My big takeaway is that I have nothing but love for Medium. Even when I started using it seriously around 2020, people were complaining about how much the platform has changed. But that’s always the case. Whenever any platform performs any kind of update, there are people who want it to go back to the way it used to be.Over the last two years, Medium created something really wonderful with the Boost program. I recently looked at the stories I wrote in October of 2023, and 3 of the 15 I did that month were really good (the other 12 were good too, but a couple got under my skin).
Today, Medium is different but that’s the way it is with writing. Things change. I haven’t quite found the same comfort level on modern Medium that I had a few years ago, but I still think it’s a wonderful place for quality writing.
One of the things I say during this conversation is, “Maybe the platform didn’t change, maybe we changed.”
I think that’s true too. I am still writing on Medium. It gave me the opportunity to build a following of 50,000 wonderful readers. I’ve been able to use my notoriety on Medium to build a following on Substack.
For now and the foreseeable future, I’ll continue to support Medium and I’ll be eternally grateful for the opportunities I found there.
Thank you
