Aw, thank you. I got a tear at the end. I think we definitely need to fill the void with kindness. I just don’t have patience for “toxic positivity” that overrides really deep grief and uncomfortable emotions.
God, I wish my kids were closer. My daughter and I are so close. She gets it. But she is across the country from me. She works in the media but too young to really influence corporate media. I feel I may have lost my son to “bro media.” He is just not getting it. Thinks RFK is admirable. Has never gotten the Covid vaccine. I just cannot fight this huge disinformation campaign. He thinks he has the facts. I think I have the facts. And he isn’t understanding this HUGE affront to women. I did not raise him this way. He is far away now and I feel my influence is non-existent at this point. When do men grow up? Lol! I have found so few enlightened ones. No offense. I follow your column because it is so useful and wise. Thank you.
Thank you Suzanne. Yes, most men have a lot of growing up to do, me too. But I had a realization today that people are getting so much misinformation that they’re being programmed to act against their own self-interests. They feel a sense of frustration. That’s the problem we have to address. We have to start empowering people to see the truth. If we could pry them away from their awful cell phones that might help :)
I think you are right. And I know we are all always learning at whatever stage. But I have seen a lot of BS in my 64 years. I feel I’ve earned a “Wise Crone” award.
Lol! But it is disregarded in this society when the patriarchy thinks they can control all the women. I don’t want to see my son fall victim to this brand of stupidity. And he does have a lot of growing up to do. I don’t know how his fiancee deals with it. It’s just disappointing. I thought I instilled more critical thinking. And his intuition used to be his best trait. I’m trying to be patient. I love him, of course. Sorry, I’ve made this into a therapy thread. Lol! But if you have any advice, I am open!

I know what you mean. I keep hugging my kids and that’s helping too.

My husband just ignored the election and is focused on making money. (sigh)
