I’m losing patience with people who are worried about offending oppressors. A gal I work with at the Democratic Campaign office in our small town was worried about some slogans on the signs for our Hands Off protest. I asked her, “Why do you worry about offending people who don’t worry about offending you?” She looked a little chagrined, but shrugged, then nodded in agreement. When asked about writing a letter of support for the best qualified candidate for a local council position, another gal was worried about offending a wholly unqualified candidate. I asked her if she was willing to jeopardize getting the best candidate elected out of fear of hurting the worst candidate’s feelings? She blinked hard, chuckled and agreed. Each of them were a little taking aback by my directness, but they didn’t get mad at me and it only took them each a second to realize they weren’t seeing it from the right perspective.
Their cruelty springs from weakness, and the problem is that we have a weakling regime in "power."
They're weak, they're losers, they're insecure ... and all the money in the world cannot make up for their mediocrity. Unfortunately, we have far too many white supremacist voters in the U.S., and without them we wouldn't be in such a dangerous predicament.
