Anxiety, yes! But hopeful, too.

Yup, the closer we get to the midterms, the better I feel.

Enjoy your summer with your kids. Time with our kids is short. Balance is everything and is golden in this chaotic world. :) Taking care of yours is number one. Family, Community, Country. Wow! I just realize I don't like to even say the word, "gold" and where my thoughts drift to. The idiot has infected us all. Resist. Will not be silenced. Scheduled to attend, two NO KINGS protests. One in the morning, and one in the afternoon in a neighboring town. Have fun this summer. Hugs, D~

Yes! Thank you D! I'm doing a better job of keeping things in perspective. Sigh... there's so much work to be done, but we've got to have fun too!

I have unsubscribed from over half of the Substack authors I followed bc I am overwhelmed, there’s lots of repetition, and I just can’t spend all that time on the phone. But I’ve stuck with you. Always some fresh truth. Thank you.

Thanks Sally, that’s interesting feedback. I’m trying to make progress with all the things we’ve been told all our lifetimes to believe and never question. Bit by bit, I think I’m getting some understanding. The comments I get on this newsletter are very helpful. It’s exhausting work though, and there are days when progress seems to slow. I wouldn’t begrudge anyone for unsubscribing, but if they do, I hope they come back. Also, there are just so many lies out there that we have to contest. Subscribers that support me but who don’t have the time to read everything I write are also very welcome :)

I liked this episode, Walter, and definitely plan to prioritize time with my girls this summer.

I have a Substack strategy question - why is everyone opting for such a frequent email schedule? I have found myself so bogged down by reading and filtering that I don't understand the strategy of overwhelm. Just generally curious if top level creators feel that this is something that puts them at that top level, or if the pacing is an internal driver, or something else that I'm missing entirely? No need to respond, just throwing it out there.

Trial and error. My growth increased when I published more. But all strategies begin to fade out after a time so we'll see.

Walter, I think you are a wonderful, thoughtful writer and good person who, in turn, brings out the good or better in us. That said, I think that you and a few others that I follow post too much, and I've felt this way for some time. Once, maybe twice a day is sufficient. More than that is just too much, and I scratch my head wondering why this course is chosen. There are so many worthy choices of journalists to read that it becomes impossible to try to keep up with the worthy historians, economists, legal analysts, humorists, and so, so many others when some of your favorites post multiple times a day. So then I grimace as I start to delete, delete, delete, knowing that I'm just never going to get to it as it piles up in my feed. I do appreciate that you brought it up.

Yes, I wouldn't expect anyone to read everything I post. That's why I break my newsletter up into sections so you can opt out from the content that doesn't interest you. I feel a little conflicted about it myself. There's so much that needs to be addressed right now. I can barely keep up. That being said, I think I'm going to slow down a little bit over the next few months at least. Maybe we all need a little break! Thanks D!

I don’t really have anxiety, just major frustration at the ability to do little to change our untenable circumstances. I can’t get my head around the fools that voted for and continue to laud the fraud in residence. The horror he spews, the lies he truths, and the ugliness in everything he touches are mind numbing and nauseating. The bro-ha-ha has lightened the mood for me and gives me hope that change is afoot, yet the next breath is another group of pundits exclaiming how democrats have it all wrong and they will lose again. It seems the loop on the eight track is on continuous play and the music never changes. Thanks for the glimpse of hope. May it be so!

Take time for you kids as that is irreplaceable and you can never go back. There are a lot of things I would do different but ut us just hindsight and we have to move forward and not beat ourselves up. I am glad people were nice about why the unsubscribed. They could stay as non paying if money is tight and read what interests them. I like your writing style. Thanks for the stories you read your kids, too.
