"Well, kids, Mr. Trump is addicted to Diet Coke and fast food- too much of that turns you into a politician with no morals who thinks no national or international law applies to him. You don't want to be like that, do you?"

Unlike you, many(some) parents are part of the cult.

You know they teach them opposite of what you and many more GOOD parents teach. There is also the possibility the Children don’t share the same views. On both sides.

One of the most tragic things about US culture is how often conservative parents kick their LGBTQ+ kids out of the house. They just completely disown them and there are all these poor homeless kids who have been betrayed by their families. That, all by itself, should show the sickness in our society.

I commend you for the parent you and totally agree. I have 2 grown sons. One went down the rabbit hole and he is a former Marine. Will never understand that. The other's first words re Dumpf is "why would anyone vote for a person with more than 6 bankruptcies yo run our government? Could not be more proud of his smarts!!

Yeah, the brainwashing that makes people think rich people are capable is truly a corrupt mechanism.

I loathe Donald Trump and his "team." We're talking about an array of asshats backing/using him, as you know.

Yup. It also makes me angry that our teachers and preachers don't bother to denounce his actions. It's bad example after bad example.

But we can change the ways we elect our officials if we can maintain our democracy. We can get rid of the electoral college, outlaw gerrymandering and only use public money for elections. Advertising should be free. Imagine the pool of brilliance we could choose from if we did these things.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act covers a lot of these things. The Democrats didn't discard the filibuster to pass it (unfortunately).

This teacher & tutor challenges students to define, evaluate and give examples: Fact vs. Opinion, cause & effect, inference. I have students find and cite text evidence. Only credible sources are accepted. When lil' t is mentioned, I ask students to find and evaluate his policies & performance according to current U.S. law. Getting students to think critically is one of the most challenging aspects of education!

Thank you .

The truth is not only Trump but all of his supporters ( enablers) have attempted to turn facts around by lying constantly. I saw some clips of Michael Flynn recently he accuses all progressive Democrats as evil .

He gives a list of everything the Maga gougers do regularly and accuses us of their hatred .

No wonder the “ cruelty is the point” . They are applying it everywhere they can . Stripping Medicaid and Medicare is cruel. Destroying institutions that assist the people in ways millionaires can’t conceive of ( and don’t care about) .

Cutting funds for education is child abuse.

Cutting money for meals for children and their families is child abuse . Cutting medical funds is child abuse. White Supremacy is child abuse .

Espousing violence is child abuse. If these so called adults can create this much chaos through lies, maybe they should be removed.

Not acknowledging minority people with their place in history is also abusive to all of us .

We sure are in a vicious circle when a person is elected to the presidency and has not one idea of who and what a president is or behaves like.

For the people that felt he was a good pick , wake up .

Grow a spine , do better next time and be honest with yourselves about the harm being done by authoritarianism and project 2025 which is a primer for self aggrandizement through white supremacy.

My dear Friend,

I hear and feel your cry.

In Hungary we have been suffering under the rule of one of his best friend, Viktor Orbán for 15 full years. Finally the majority of the electing citizens say: ENOUGH!

We sing with Joan Baez: We shall overcome!

Ruth ben-ghiat has just put out a good short youtube on dictators that help explain the similarities in their playbooks. The history lesson helps me cope, as I was not receptive to school in my HS years...But also mentioning to kids the forensic audit that we so badly need will help show that, no, most people don't go for the likes of Trump, and then, there is also the Fox News indoctrination that fooled so many that is, theoretically fixable, somehow. There are so many valid lessons to be learned here. The fifty year plan of the Heritage Foundation, the obvious logical disconnect of calling anti-genocide anti-semitic...so many lessons.

“This nation was founded on genocide and slavery.”

Oh my god, that is the actual truth, shocking and frightening. With such a foundation, no wonder MAGA exists.

Excellent, spot-on article. If only I could send it to my Trumper family members but they don’t see and don’t hear. That man could murder someone in front of them and lay him/her bleeding at their feet and I don’t think it would change their minds. I DON’T GET IT. I am sick to my stomach at what I am seeing but wonder if I’m any better as I feel violent feelings rise when I see these vicious attitudes in our president and his cabinet. However, I won’t act on them.
