I hear many times that we see are not teaching history....... I taught math but am still in contact with many educators. Do we have evidence that allllll of history is not being taught in MS/HS? A good educator will expound events......is there evidence that this is not allowed?!
Teachers will do it anyway or quit. We already have a shortage, which is being filled by, many times, unqualified persons with no education background., even in that subject.
Well we have the ongoing problem of people mistakenly arguing the Civil War was about states' rights (it wasn't). It's because that lie is in lot of text books.
Teachers are required to teach the standards approved by the state. Textbooks are not used in many schools. Unless it is Illegal to teach these historic truth's, one might consider that we see hiring "teachers" with no education background and/or in that subject matter. When you don't invest in public education......
As and educator for 41 years prior to retirement, I taught history continuously and focused on areas like Native American and how our government was based on their own government 5 Nations, holidays around the world, black history, Pacific Islanders, Chinese, Japanese, etc. My colleagues did the same. Haven't heard that being discontinued. We also had support for ESL. Are we perfect? No at all, but we continue to rise.
Oh, sigh, I was hoping my state would not be so honored be on these lists, but hey, it's Indiana! Sadly I have lived here since birth, almost 67 years. Each year is more tortured than the one before. We didn't used to be here, but here we are. We were once purple, leaning very blue. Our K12 schools ranked 15th or above in the nation. Now we're 43rd and just passed laws to fully fund private schools regardless of financial need. This has become such a horrible place to be since the Indiamaga infiltrated our politics and took over everything! Heritage ran us as a test case for all the unholy laws against education, public, and especially females.
