I kept my maiden name. Consulted an attorney to see what was necessary …. NOTHING. Just couldn’t write or use his name…simple… except that it did annoy a few university colleagues… made it easy to identify sexist men. When got divorced also learned my separate consulting business income was ONLY safe from my X claiming half …WAS that account was in my name only.

I was adamant I would never take another’s name, especially when I learned that “Mrs” was the possessive of “Mr” (Mr’s). That grossed me out. My husband seemed okay with it when we married and I had no problem with our kids taking his last name (even though I did all the work! Lol!). But 15 years later, as I was moving out in the midst of our divorce he said, “… and you never took my name!!!” 🤣 WTF! Passive aggressive much?! Lol! Anyway, thank you for showing so much maturity and true kind, loving, and masculine behavior.
