Unfortunately, Walter, the patriarchy is institutionalized in virtually every culture worldwide in every aspect of day to day life. The family, government, business, religion, relationships and the society. As long as everyone concedes to the patriarchal system we will suffer from hypocrisy, irrational decision making, lack of accountability, absence of empathy, bullying, genocide and war. Women have the power if they elect to use it. The oppressed have the power if they elect to use it. The patriarch is fragile if challenged. He will threaten, bluster, bully and destroy. The question is “are we ready for revolutionary change?”
This was thought provoking. Yes, patriarchy is a construct to empower a certain part of culture and suppress others. It is a fallacy. The founders would never have survived without the women. They built, farmed, cooked, made, ran businesses etc. Yet, colloquial history makes it sound like they laid on a chaise and are bonbons all day. Native American women were more highly valued. The house belonged to her. Her family raised the children. She held position of power as a medicine woman. They led tribes. They fought wars. For some reason white males didn't like this perception. Alice of old Vincennes (fort sackville) was key to Clark winning Indiana during the revolutionary war. There are so many women who always stepped up, but minimal is written in the white male history version.

No problem at all. I could see how it would be annoying to get emails about a podcast when you don't prefer podcasts. You can change your settings so you receive my articles and don't get the podcasts. I wish I could do it for you but here's a tutorial: https://walterrhein.substack.com/p/how-to-unsubscribe-from-the-sections

I'd rather be reading. My brain wanders off when I try to listen to podcasts or audio content.

I apologize for being grumpy. I'll stick around, was just dismayed that the writing was a podcast
