The price of eggs is pretty consequential for people running out of groceries before their next check. Telling them that this doesn’t matter is the epitome of privilege. People do get the condescension, and they don’t like it.Price gouging is a direct attack on the majority of the population, ignoring that for abstractions is pretty foolish.
Tie the price of everything to oligarchical control and you have a chance to win. Connect the security of affordable food, housing and medical care to the ability for EVERYONE to enjoy their personal liberty and participate fully in their democracy, instead of playing Whac-A-Mole with laws that can be undermined or undone by a corrupt system as with RoeV.Wade.
Having strong laws against price gouging ready with messaging that explains it emotionally and intellectually, especially to nonvoters, would be a good start.
Price of eggs: Still high. The Lying Liar currently in office said he would bring grocery prices down on “Day One”. He didn’t. Prices have gone up on his watch. It’s important that he is held accountable for his lies.
War in Ukraine: Still raging. The Lying Liar said he would end the war on “Day One” if not before. He didn’t. His influence over his buddy, Vlad, is apparently zero. He is pathetic.
The stock market: Crashing. In August 2024 the Lying Liar said, “When I win the election, we will immediately begin a brand new economic boom.”
The argument I've been making is not whether the President of the United States has the power or ability to do these things. It's that he said he would, and didn't. To me, that's the issue. And, I'm going to keep calling him out on his braggy bullshit as often as I can.
Exactly, throughout the rapey felon 47’s first term, every lie and ridiculous statement he uttered was given a pass by the legacy media and by the jellyfish republicans. And here we go again with corporate media succumbing to greed and seeking favors from the wannabe dictator. The rest of us, those who are sane and have critical thinking ability, heard his stupefying BS and thought, “ this is career ending stupidity and incompetence, where are the calls by responsible adults for this bozo to step down “? Any response? Anyone? Nope, only a handful of republicans and most democrats. I have given up on the segment of our country who are seriously brainwashed and in denial about the damage coming to America intentionally caused by their godking felon. There needs to be no quarter given to the brown noser republicans in the future when the rapey felon is finally gone. No mercy to those craven traitors who have caved in and are feeding at the trough of our tax dollars while Americans are in peril of starving and losing their life savings. Enough of trusting republicans to do the right thing, because their sole objective is to protect the interests of the 1%, not the rest of us.
Lots there, Waler. Something of an inditement of what I have been doing on "Brandless Existence."
I asked a couple of friends and followers about this. Are my posts an attempt by me to spur the intellectual interacrion I apparently need? Or should it be a focused effort geared towards inspiring and motivating action among the broadest number of people.
In my 10 years at The Madison Institute, we could get speakers of national promenence to Madison (John Dean and Naomi Klein, for example), but were always scrambling for money and appeared to be more of a "salon."
Hi Fred! I didn't mean it as an indictment of you or your work! I'll have to look at something you specifically have written and see if I have any thoughts. As always, I'm working on a theory and I'm quite happy to listen to feedback as to how I must adjust my theory.
I think we need to have both an internal and external focus. In this article, my intention wasn't to disparage thoughtful inquiry, it was to highlight how the left often gets off message. But there is a time and a place for all thoughts. I'm glad to get you thinking, please don't hesitate to explore this idea further here in the comments!
Bravo. I could not agree more. Much of the last campaign’s talking points were used against them virtually overnight. The right talked about DJT and so did the left. There was never an articulated plan to inspire voting for the Democrats. The same old tired rhetoric. There were many missed opportunities to make use of social media. I will be re-reading this post many times.
The left did have an articulated plan. I feel they dropped the ball on attacks and responding to attacks. They need to take off the gloves and respond when pushed. But Harris did outline a truly fantastic strategy for ensuring the prosperity of this country.
Can you point to examples of her plan? It seemed that something happened near the end of what began as an upbeat campaign. The commercial during the Superbowl was pretty devastating. I did vote for HER, not just against him, which was the case in 2016.
She had a loan for small businesses. No use of tarrifs. A proposal for an equitable tax overhaul, and more. It was all listed on her web page and she went over the plan whenever she spoke. The idea that she didn't discuss her plan is a right wing lie.
I remember seeing something come across my phone showing the carrot his presence and everything nauseates me especially first thing in the morning before I have a cup of coffee with him perching those lips of his reminds of some darn extint reptile or something yelling, "Shut up about the price of eggs" Don't know if anyone remembers that but that for sure shows he doesn't care which his actions as Walter so diligently pointed shows he doesn't. He is a describable monster. That's all I can say about that thing. Sorry if I'm being mean, but he's just not nice. Not even sure if he is human from this world, even. Sorry, yes, I will go there. To think I used to go to his casinos, I helped make him rich, and the monster he is, as he owned several in Atlantic City. I was naive then and didn't know the full context of his evilness. The man is just downright abominable.
To the woman who asked why there isn't a chicken shortage if there is an egg shortage, you should know that the chicken you eat has never laid an egg in its life. There are chickens raised for meat and then there are chickens raised to lay eggs. Different breeds and entirely different poultry operations. A mere snippet of information in the big scheme of things, but indicative of the complexities of many issues where we, the public, aren't fully aware of the big picture.
In the context of what's going on today, the more important point of emphasis is that there is no egg shortage. Keep the message simple. The egg industry is recording record profits because they have a supply they're selling at a falsely inflated demand. That's the story. We're being robbed.

Absolutely! Great comment!
I agree, Walter. The following sentences are from my latest post:

Time for some updates:
Price of eggs: Still high. The Lying Liar currently in office said he would bring grocery prices down on “Day One”. He didn’t. Prices have gone up on his watch. It’s important that he is held accountable for his lies.
War in Ukraine: Still raging. The Lying Liar said he would end the war on “Day One” if not before. He didn’t. His influence over his buddy, Vlad, is apparently zero. He is pathetic.

Not even close.

Lots of people, center, left and right have been calling the orange buffoon on his impossible rhetoric.
But we/they go relatively unheard because the president gets extraordinary media attention.
Even when he’s spouting bs, NOT because people aren’t pointing it out.

Well, actually, that's something to ponder...
Maybe a future post.

Thank you. So many RW lies, so little time.

I have always considered NIMBYs to be worthless whitewashed republicans.
