Yesterday felt like a start, Walter!

Congrats on your Wisconsin wins, Walter! As a Floridian, it gave me some hope too - despite the fact we continued to elect two Trumpets to replace Gaetz and Waltz. But the positive spin on that one is that the Dems cut their lead by half compared to last election.

Whether this election is a small step or a big step doesn't really matter - it's a start, and that's what counts. Because you can't get anywhere without a start!

"I don't understand why a population that claims to be so terrified by government overreach can be so easily persuaded to hand the government additional power."

This is a stumbling block for me as well Walter. The only answer I can come up with is they are thoroughly brainwashed by the faux Evangelical cult in place and have lost the ability to think on their own. If they ever did.

I congratulate your state on its victory. It's a massive win in many ways and it ignites our hopes there will be more coming down the pike. 🆓⛓️‍💥⚖️👏

You've got it exactly right. Thanks! Yes, it's nice to feel proud of my state for a few hours anyway.

Americans could solve a lot of their problems by not having elections to choose every damn one of their public officials. In Canada, for example, our senators and judges are appointed, and the majority of them are sane people with limited or nonexistent political biases.

Yeah, the problem is we elect lunatics who then go on to appoint other lunatics. But it is odd to have elections for the Supreme Court. I mean... can I run for the Supreme Court if I want? I'm not qualified... but whatever.

Like I said, Canada's Supreme Court judges always have to check their politics at their door, because our government still operates the old fashioned way. Somewhere along the line America chose to ignore the old fashioned way, hence the politically biased judges (Roberts, Gorsuch, Barrett, Kavanagh etc.)

There is a flicker of hope with Barrett on things other than abortion; if she can withstand the Maga backlash when she strays.

Kudos to WI... and to MI... and to MN...

OH *used to be* in the mix with those states, but in the 3+ decades that I have lived here, we have regressed, and the people have recently agreed to 1) illegally gerrymander our congressional districts and 2) vote in the likes of [sinister] JDVance & MAGA-extraordinaire Bernie Moreno :(

Also, our state government thinks that budgeting a BILLION dollars for private (mostly religious) school vouchers is in the best interest of our people - Ha! - this state is getting more and more "Christian" nationalist-adjacent and it's showing NO signs of retreating...

Susan Crawford's win in WI last night gives us a glimmer of hope, no matter how faint, that we CAN defeat this fascistic onslaught being perpetrated by the tRump administration and the purveyors of Project 2025. A great big THANK YOU to the people of WI for leading the way with tenacity and grit! I will admire you from afar and continue to work to effect change in this "backward-leaning" state that I continue to call home.
