Oh thank goodness I saw this, I’m new on this platform and didn’t know how the moderation on cussing worked. It’s on and popping now. Aaawww shit mutha fucka god damn 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm crying because I lost my daddy recently, I have a step daddy but really, I lost him too. Both were victims of right wing propaganda and I have an 8 year old who I can now give this to because she never had a dad to begin with. Thank you so much for your truth, I am 44 and your truth is so identical to mine it's refreshing and I feel seen. 🫶🏼💙
Yes, these last few years have provided an impulse to find our "true" families. I've cut off so many people I can't count it. Mine is an immigrant family, so anyone affiliated with a political party that incites hate against immigrants is out for me. Best to you!
You’re ahead of the curve, for sure. The great challenge of this existence, in my opinion, is to keep your mind open enough to continue growth. Although truth is our goal, the journey suggests many paths to the goal, and many shades of the destination. Start with developing principles and work your way out from there. Always be learning. Always exercise empathy.
I love your advice, especially the Dept one as I have followed that most of my life. If I couldn't pay for it then I didn't really need it and didn't borrow the damned money to get it. Every thing has a pay back even your fucked up sex life. I did borrow money for college though.
Sometimes debt is unavoidable, and if you got your degree and a good job, then it made sense. It's just that we don't offer enough warnings about debt in our society, and there are certainly predatory lenders. Thanks for your lovely comment!
I don't consider this advice just speaking from the heart. I don't give advice I empower others to think independently and make their own choices, otherwise you get blamed for another's choices. Make your own choice, stop blaming others and find your own way.
PS as I age my vocabulary gets more flamboyant. Cussing is a necessity!
I surrender. I realize that you left me behind in the dust. Maybe I never was as "clever" as I believed I was in a rural farming community public high school over 50 years ago. I can understand now how conceited I was, only because I loved to read and many of my classmates didn't. These days I like reading what you write because you point out errors in my way of thinking. Even if it cuts me to the bone occasionally! I am humbled, indeed. Thank you for your excellent writing!
Successful people like to downplay the role that chance played in their fortunes, but it’s there. Don’t give too much credit to those who have done well, nor reserve too much blame for those that have not. Cultivate a corner of your mind for the benefit of the doubt because someday it might be you getting judged.>>THIS THIS THIS THIS. It doesn't mean you shouldn't work hard for what you want to accomplish, but it means you should know that there's also a big element of luck. That's one of the big themes of The Trailer Park Rules, and an even bigger theme of the non-fiction book I'm gonna put out just as soon as I get a couple days to work on it. It's called "It's Not Just You." I'll tell you when I finally get it done!
There’s a great interview with Frank Zappa (by Nicky Campbell on BBC radio) and he asks about swearing and crude language. He says, “what if your children were running around saying F this and F that?”
Zappa replied, “I don’t have a problem with that.” ! 😂
This was an amazing read and despite being in my 40s this is some advice I also needed to hear. Let me double down for the comments on that “avoid debt at all costs” it’s all a trap! 🪤
I hate people who believe they're better than others because they don't use cuss words.
Yeah, me too. Those people who want to believe they're better than everyone have a pretty selective process of observation.
It provides them with a false sense of power and superiority.
Yes, that's also why I object to labeling people "sinners."
And do we cringe only because we believe we're better?
Love this article!! And my sense of humor is far from appropriate too but do I give a fuck??? I think the answer is obvious.
Beautiful! haha, great comment!

I’m so sorry for your loss, @SarahRain.
Ty! 🫶🏼
For a 45 year old kid, not a bad list.
I love that comment. Thank you!

Every day I get a better understading of how much I don't know. Very nicely said!
They should teach kids about debt in school. Things like personal fiance were electives when I was in High School.
I agree. It's omitted by design in order to control us.
Bingo

That's a very impressive comment. Thank you very much. Your path is the same as mine.
My family are all pretty conservative and cringe because I use f**k often and try to practice it whenever possible.
Thank you.
Well, tell them you're just exercising your freedom of speech.

Fuck yeah!
Haha! Awesome!
Your kids are blessed to have a dad willing to share his learnings in writing. I need to do that. Thanks for your inspiration.
Lies are shouted, truth is whispered. I love that one!
Thank you!
