This reads like a novel to me. I live in a liberal bubble in N CA. Wine country. 300 miles north is Redding. A red enclave that sounds like where you live. I pray you feel safe as you clarion call for social change and justice

I don't think anyone feels safe right now, but thanks so much for your kind words.

MAGA is looking for friends. But MAGA forgets that to have a friend, you need to be a friend. And also MAGA should remember that what comes around, goes around.

Dear MAGA is so boring to hear “buy American” coming from your face hole while wearing a Chinese red hat

Damn, Walter, you’ve done it again. Proving that truthfully expressed reality is a powerful force against the pain-filled hypocrisy and arrogance all self-hating cowards use as their pitiful disguise.

They create their own terrifying version of hell on earth, wail about their victimhood, and blame anyone and everyone who has the courage, resilience, and holds fast to their spirit of hope, and their will to keep moving forward toward the humanity of the greater good of all.

Your writing proves time and time again, the truth is the best antidote to the poison of MAGA. May they find the cure or end up in the proverbial “dustbin of history.”

Once you start unraveling it, the whole thing comes apart doesn't it? It's like pulling at a sweater. Thanks for your very kind words!

Walter, so many creative passages here. One of my favs: “MAGA, you're the lowest hanging fruit of them all. In fact, you're not even on the branch, you're rotting in the grass.” 🤣

Make no mistake though, they aren't just men - the majority of white women voted for the Manchurian Cantaloupe, too.

That's true and it makes me sad. I've been in these places where conservatives have completely crushed the spirit and brainwashed everyone around them. I remain more confident that we can get through to the women than the men. Thank you for your comment!

I'm not sure the most dyed-in-the-wool ones can be got to. I think Democrats' focus should hone in on the ones who didn't vote at all, and the ones who didn't vote for Kamala because of Palestine.

I agree that women may have more empathy, but my stepdaughter voted to “Keep my sons out of war.” Educated, but dumb as dirt. 👹

I live in a semi-rural area of SoCal that is a red enclave also. Since the rapey felon 47 ran for office in 2020 I have repeatedly tried to talk to family/friends why voting republican is like a never ending hamster wheel. The end result is the same- no progress and you end up where you started. The repug representative of my district has my contempt. He was yucking it up at the roach resort at maralago while SoCal was on fire knowing part of his district recently had major wildfire damage. He’s a turd of the first order. I have repeatedly contacted his office for various legislative concerns and if I get a response it’s the usual repug doublespeak BS. But because he has an “R” after his name, the voters keep him in office despite the fact that they are voting against their safety net, health care and welfare. I am getting tired of this moronic voting block halting progress and ensuring a regressive government taking us back decades.

Yup. I have the same frustrations and concerns. We have to try new tactics for getting through to them.

MAGA is the American equivalent of the 33% of the Germans in 1936 supporting Hitler. It’s that simple.

Couldn't have thought this out and said it any better, Walter.

It TOTALLY and ACCURATELY describes the maga followers that I know. I am amazed you wrote it down so succinctly.

It totally makes sense now. They are doomed unless they somehow find peace.

How sad it must be to live your life as cynically as maga does... always frightened and angry. They can only blame themselves. As they have no CURIOSITY...are certainly not BRAVE.

There is still SO MUCH good out there when you look for it. I see it every single day.
