I took some time to read through enough of your articles to become a paid subscriber. I am happy to have found your voice in the world, especially for this upcoming period of time ahead of us.

Thank you so much Wendy. My approach certainly changed in the aftermath of November 5th. I'm going to try to be more focused on kindness and mindfulness. I want to strike a balance between keeping people informed and providing comfort on how to survive. The one thing we can't do is give up, but at the same time we have to protect our own mental health. Thanks for your support, it keeps me going!

That is my life approach, mindfulness and kindness with just enough cynicism to keep me alive with an intact sense of humor at humanity's absurdities. Top of the food chain, my ass.

Happy Thanksgiving, Walter. I hope you don’t have to take your own advice this year! But if you do, please know you’re not alone! And AA meetings everywhere are having turkey dinners and a gratitude meeting filled with love positivity and fun.

Happy Thanksgiving! You are so right that leaving can be a powerful tool. When I was staying with my parents for a few days some years ago, I would leave the room whenever my mother turned on Fox News. She got mad and yelled at me, saying, “You’re trying to tell me what to watch in my own home!!” I calmly replied, “I didn’t say you couldn’t watch it. I just said I’m not watching it.” She didn’t stop watching Fox, of course, but I think she did reduce her time with it because she preferred to keep me in the room.

Happy Thanksgiving Walter!

I am fortunate in that my family is on the same page as far as politics are concerned. Honestly, if I thought I would have to suffer through the situations you described, I would keep my butt at home. Life's too short for that kind of B.S. Thank you for sharing the concept of the Overton window, this is a concept I've never heard of. From what I can tell, people have been pushed to believe a load of crap. The window had been shifted towards authoritarianism.

I think there has been a cataclysmic shift due to the election. A lot of liberals have cut off family and friends because they are so upset about them gloating that Trump won. They see it as a personal attack, which in many ways it is if you are a woman, minority, immigrant, and LTBGQ+ person. And, the fact that they have voted against themselves and they are just realizing it, or soon will when their own benefits are taken away.

After January, we will all be in the "find out" phase of F*ck around and find out. We will all find out how royally screwed we are due to people not realizing what they actually voted for.

Thank you Walter for a great message .. You are spot on .. I saw a great slogan this morning as I was reading Jess Pipers article .. she has a sweatshirt that says “dirt road democrat” .. I’m thinking that says it all .. The resistance grows from within and cannot be squashed !!!
